Stuart Ashdown

Stuart graduated with a degree in Mining Engineering (Honours) from The University Of Queensland. He has 12 years experience providing expertise in designing and scheduling open cut coal and metalliferous mines. Stuart has excellent computer skills and is an expert user of Minex, Surpac and XPAC.

 

Joyanta Chakraborty

Senior Mining Engineer
B.Eng. (Mining)

 

Joyanta has over 6 years experience in open cut coal mine planning and operation. He has worked with Indian private coal companies such as Integrated Coal Mining Ltd (ICML) and Electrosteel Castings Ltd (ESCL) in the planning department and has worked closely with Norwest Corporation Inc of USA as a consultant. Since 2006 he has worked mainly as a site manager/in-charge of Indonesian coal mining.

Senior Geologist

Abdullah has 12 years experience in the mining industry. His experience includes reconnaissance work through detailed gold exploration mapping on Halmahera Island, resource definition drilling of the Gosowong deposit, and management of the grade control system at Gosowong and Mount Muro gold mines and the Kencana underground gold mine. Abdullah has supervised coal exploration drilling and coal project development. His experience includes monitoring coal production and pit reconciliation at the Satui coal mine on behalf of Thiess Contractors Indonesia.

 

Mulwan Lumban Gaol

Mining Engineer
B.Eng. (Mining)

 

Mulwan has 12 years mining experience primarily in open cut mining. He has practical experience in coal mining and in mine design and scheduling, drill and blast design and evaluation, and truck despatch. His expertise lies in mine design and short term scheduling.

 

Mark Manners

Principal Geologist {JORC}
B.Sc. (Geology)

 

Mark has over 20 years experience as a geologist. He has worked on grass roots exploration and development work at major open cut mines in Central Queensland. His skills were pivotal in the geological consolidation of CNA’s Hunter Valley’s mine models when they converted to Minex software. Mark also implemented the geological software with CH4 for CNA’s Queensland coal seam methane projects.

 

He has had considerable input while working in Indonesia on greenfields coal sites and he has due diligence experience working on coal deposits in New South Wales and South Kalimantan.

 

Mark’s geological computer skills are principally with Minex and Mincom software.

 

Tully Matthews

Geologist
B.Sc. (Geology)

 

Tully is a recent addition to the SMGC team. He has previously worked for Ellemby Resources and Management at the Donaldson, Abel and Tasman mine sites (Hunter Valley).

 

Gabriella Nining


Cartographer/Illustrator

Gabby gained her qualification in architecture at Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung. She has six years experience in designing a range of interior and exterior buildings and has broad building materials knowledge.

 

Gabby possesses broad software skills including Autodesk AutoCAD (2D and 3D), Architectural Desktop, Autodesk Civil 3D, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and CorelDraw. Gabby is highly skilled in the compilation of technical and illustrative figures of the varied work prepared by SMGC’s team of consultants.

 

Keith Whitchurch

Principal Mining Engineer {JORC}
B.Eng. (Mining - Hons), M.Eng.Sc. (Research)

 

Keith has more than 20 years experience in open cut and underground mining. He holds a Master degree in geostatistics and resource classification and is a member of the AusIMM and a Registered Professional Engineer (Queensland).

 

He specialises in mine planning and his expertise includes geological modelling, reserves evaluation, pit optimisation, mine design, equipment selection, mine scheduling, backfill design and planning, project costing and economics. Keith’s work on resource classification predates the current JORC code and for the past 22 years, he has had continuous involvement in resource classification.

 

Asri Dyah Wijayanti

Geologist
B.Eng. (Geology)

 

Asri has over four years coal mining experience as a geologist specialising in geotechnical engineering, exploration geologist and mining geologist. Her expertise includes slope stability analysis, geotechnical monitoring, geotechnical laboratory and field testing, geotechnical quality control, geotechnical and monitoring database, structural/geotechnical mapping, geological exploration and evaluation, geological mapping, coal mining procedure, quality control and reconciliation.

 

She has also gained experience in geological mapping and volcanic facies study. She has two years experience as Lecturer Assistant in Geotechnical and Geo-hydrology Laboratory at University of National Development "Veteran" Yogyakarta Indonesia. Her computer skill covers mining applications in Minex, MapInfo, Geo Studio, and Dips.
